I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

Psalm 84.10

Victoria Williams, President

To serve God in the same spirit of excellence as demonstrated by our Pastors; to not only greet and seat, but to be alert to the physical needs of the congregation; to provide a safe environment conducive to worshipping; and, to encourage perfect order in the Sanctuary and throughout the Church.

Ushers are forerunners for they prepare the Church for the guests.  God, the first Usher, is our model.  Just as He ushered light into the world and called it day, we usher in His children to experience his love, grace and mercy.  To be a Church Usher, one must be a Christian.  One cannot represent God and His work unless he or she is God-like.  An Usher must be humble, with a spirit of meekness and chastity, ever keeping in their mind and heart the instruction of our Lord as recorded in Matthew 11:29,”Learn of Me for I am meek and lowly of heart.”

Church Ushering is a sacred duty because it is an important phase of the Lord’s work, same as the Pastor and choir.  Ushers are a very important part of any Church service.  They are most times the first persons seen when entering the Church; therefore, it is important that every Usher is pleasant, friendly, and loving when greeting members and guests or interacting in any manner.

The Israel Metropolitan C.M.E. Usher Ministry is comprised of Junior and Senior Ushers.  We are more than a ministry; we are a family always looking to increase our size.  We are looking for volunteers with a Christian spirit; a committed heart; and, a gift of hospitality to join our ministry.
